Remember how I joined Phil Chester on a shoot and learned him? Well I also have the opportunity to do the same with Lindsey Roman and her sweet friends Bailey and Jordan! They’re so cool and hip, so Brooklyn definitely made sense for an anniversary session. It wasn’t too cold, but even so, we had them cuddle up together as much as possible and run around like crazy. I didn’t have any film left for this shoot, but definitely wish I had!
What does a wedding look like in all black and white? I made it most of the way in all black and white. It’s hard. There are definitely moments that call for color, but man this wedding made sense. Greens aren’t always a photographer’s best friend, especially when you’re surrounded by them. Sure, they look beautiful in real life, but they also cast a green tint on your skin. Black and white can hide all those green tones and really bring our the emotions.
2017 was quite a year!! It consisted of bags always being packed because lots of traveling, ALL the weddings (11 of my own, 44 second shooting), adventurous and fun couples, new gear and too many memories to count! I photographed couples in Chicago, San Francisco, Napa, Oakland, New York and many more places. I visited Detroit for the first time and photographed a wedding for Swanky Fine Art Weddings. I traveled to Seattle with my family for the first time and photographed a sweet couple in Georgetown. I went to Ireland, England and France with my friends Adrian and Sheri and we were able to photograph some gorgeous couples in each country. I shot an elopement in Laguna Beach and we got drenched, including my gear, but we all survived. I'm excited for all the adventures to come in 2018 and can only hope they live up to this year's adventures!
The Deharts in San Francisco! They decided to have a little getaway from Utah alone for their anniversary and wanted some photos to document the memories. They wanted iconic San Francisco backgrounds, but not too typical or basic. Of course we had to get the Golden Gate Bridge though because how else do you know you're in SF? Enjoy!
It was so great to reconnect with Connor and Hannah. We all went to college together, which is where they first met. I met Connor while I was out to lunch with our mutual friend Fred. We managed to stay in touch via Instagram and I reached out before I headed to Chicago. I was so stoked when they said they were up for a couple session, but they couldn't afford it. When I'm traveling, of course I want to take on as much paid work as possible, but sometimes I have free time to be creative and always need new content in new places. I met up at their apartment and we shot as much as we could there, then we went on a stroll around Wicker Park. Enjoy!
