Ramia proposed to Maddy at Girraci Vineyards and Farms in Silverado Canyon. Ramia and some of their friends decorated the barn space. We all hung out inside while Maddy and one of her friends grabbed drinks down the road. Once everyone arrived, Ramia sent Maddy’s friend the “go time” text. It was such a special moment to capture. They were surrounded by their families and closest friends who are really family. I’m so excited to photograph their wedding next year!!
2019 was a solid year and such a great way to end the decade!! It was my third year shooting weddings & I also I lead shot the most weddings thus far. So wild! I went into 2019 with only a couple of weddings booked, but wound up at 18. My goal is usually 10-12 so I can handle also shooting commercial and portrait work, but it is safe to say I can definitely shoot 20-22 and still handle the other work. I still second shot this year, too and even got to travel a bit for weddings. I made it to Wisconsin for a wedding at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, was able to second shoot a few weddings on Long Island and shot another proposal in Central Park. I met Troy Williams at the beginning of this year and had the pleasure of working 3 events with him!! Thank you, Troy!
I’m heading into 2020 with 13 weddings booked - FREAKING WILD!!! I have two booked in NY and my goal is 3 in NY. I still have the whole year ahead, so I think I may need to increase that goal. I’ll also be spending more time in New York - as in longer periods of time rather than going so frequently for short periods. I haven’t thought too too much about my goals for 2020, but I do want to start shooting more film during weddings - maybe a roll at each wedding. What are your goals for 2020?
Curious how to plan the best proposal? Look no further! Matt is proposal planner extraordinaire. I swear, I’ve never met a more thoughtful person. He legit thought of everything from flying her friends in to help set up to booking a photographer to finding the perfect spot in Central Park. I couldn’t wait to meet Matt and Emily because Matt seemed so cool. They were so cool and fun to hang out with! Definitely my kind of people.
Matt said he knew I was the right photographer when he saw my love for Friends because Emily also loves Friends. My quick responses via email and jumping on a call the same day sealed the deal. Photographers - make sure you’re responding same day at the absolute least. Matt first emailed me at 8AM, I emailed back within the hour and we jumped on a call a few hours later. By the time he signed the contract (around 5PM), he still hadn’t even received a response from the other photographers he emailed. I had not only done a phone call, but I sent a custom proposal! The early bird gets the worm is a true statement, so make sure to get ahead!
Shout out to all the newly engaged couples like these two!! Kyle and Paige walk along the beach pretty frequently, so when Kyle told me he wanted to propose during one of their nightly walks - it just made sense! She wouldn’t suspect anything, except she totally started getting bummed he hadn’t proposed when the made it to the pier. Little did she know, he had planned to propose on the walk back. I already followed him on Instagram, so I knew who to look for, but the beach is huge and of course it was super low tide (Paige’s favorite time) , so the beach was even bigger. I was pretty far away when he got down on one knee, but it turned out so perfect!! She was so surprised and even more surprised to see me haha! They enjoyed a staycation at the Ritz after! So fun!
All right all right! First blog post of 2019!! BROOKE AND CHRIS ARE ENGAGED!!! Ow ow! How freaking cute are they?! I’ve shot in Central Park a million and one times, but this was my first Central Park proposal and it was AMAZING! Soooo let me tell you about how awesome these two are - They had just arrived in New York after a redeye from CA (I mean who doesn’t do that?!) and Central Park was their first stop (other than swinging by their hotel to freshen up). Chris and I were texting back and forth ferociously trying to make a plan of action because it had rained and our original spot was pretty muddy. We were both hoping the rain wouldn’t cause Brooke to “cancel” (she had no idea why Chris REALLY wanted to go to Central Park) their walk in Central Park. It’s pretty dang hard surprising someone!! Chris couldn’t rush her without giving it away ANDDD he nearly lost it when she picked up his jacket where the ring was. Thankfully she didn’t feel it and was totally surprised when he got down on one knee on Gapstow Bridge. There was a crowd of people behind them taking selfies and another crowd behind me clapping and cheering. Talk about a great way to end 2018!
Chris - you nailed it! Brooke and Chris - you were both amazing and I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of such a special moment for you both!! Congrats!!!
