These rad friends of mine and I met up near the Balboa Fun Zone for a quick little shoot! We walked around Balboa, but didn’t go on any rides. Regardless, we had so much fun because they’re so fun and were down to do anything including jumping on each other’s backs!
Huntington Beach at sunset with a rad couple - I mean WOW! I am obsessed. Bobby and Mavis are SO sweet and wanted to book a shoot after they saw the photos I took of their son’s family. We met up in Huntington Beach and took some shots on the pier, main beach, and Main/PCH. They’re such cool people and are so in love, which made my job so easy.
Pro tip: wear what you’re most comfortable in, especially if you’re opting for a mini session. When you’re comfortable in your clothes, you’ll be much more comfortable in front of the camera! It also helps having your honey to snuggle up with ;)
Look at those sweet boys!! UGH adorable! This family is so fun and I always have a blast working with them. Parker is a total goof and legit licks Jessi during the shoot. The boys are so well behaved and sweet, which made my life SO EASY because kids have such a short attention span. It probably helped we were in their home where they are most comfortable and we shot fairly early in the morning AKA they had enough time to wake up, eat and get ready then it was time for photos. Once their attention span was up, we just let them play in the backyard and still got some great photos!
A cute couple + a cute dog PLUS a cute love story = killer photos!I tell every couple to choose locations that are meaningful to them or activities they do together often. Matthew and Nichole picked a great spot because they had their first kiss on this bench. Of course they had to bring their pup, Kuna who was SO FUN! If you know me at all, you know I LOVE dogs, so having a dog on a shoot is the greatest thing in the world to me.
2019 was a solid year and such a great way to end the decade!! It was my third year shooting weddings & I also I lead shot the most weddings thus far. So wild! I went into 2019 with only a couple of weddings booked, but wound up at 18. My goal is usually 10-12 so I can handle also shooting commercial and portrait work, but it is safe to say I can definitely shoot 20-22 and still handle the other work. I still second shot this year, too and even got to travel a bit for weddings. I made it to Wisconsin for a wedding at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, was able to second shoot a few weddings on Long Island and shot another proposal in Central Park. I met Troy Williams at the beginning of this year and had the pleasure of working 3 events with him!! Thank you, Troy!
I’m heading into 2020 with 13 weddings booked - FREAKING WILD!!! I have two booked in NY and my goal is 3 in NY. I still have the whole year ahead, so I think I may need to increase that goal. I’ll also be spending more time in New York - as in longer periods of time rather than going so frequently for short periods. I haven’t thought too too much about my goals for 2020, but I do want to start shooting more film during weddings - maybe a roll at each wedding. What are your goals for 2020?
