This stunning and sunny engagement session was at Crescent Bay, in Laguna Beach for Karisa and Lindsey! Crescent Bay is the epitome of California beaches, clear blue skies, palm trees in every direction you can see, and beautiful blue water. Karisa & Lindsey’s Proposal In Laguna Beach
Karisa actually found me through a past couple I worked with, Kyle and Paige. I captured their surprise proposal back in 2019 (check that out here). Karisa had planned to propose on the beach but unfortunately there had been an oil spill and all the beaches were closed. So, Karisa had to change up her plans and proposed at the Montage In Laguna Beach instead. Luckily these two came back to Laguna six months later for their bachelorette and we had the chance to finally photograph some beach photos for them!
Shooting for blue skies in Laguna Beach
When I started to plan this session, Karisa and Lindsey let me know they were hoping for big blue skies in their images. I knew this was so doable, we just needed to plan to start shooting a bit earlier. If you are also looking for certain lighting in your images, plan to be open to shooting at different times of the day for that perfect lighting!
In order to capture blue skies overhead you need to shoot earlier in the day after the sun is up but also before it is directly overhead. This way I can photograph with the blue skies and ocean in the background. When planning your outdoor photoshoots, consider what kind of light are you looking for and make sure to communicate this with your photographer.

These two were so natural in front of the camera and made it so easy to capture their love. They also wore the perfect neutral outfits to really let the beach and sky do the work for them. I loved the white ruffle dresses they chose and it fit these California vibes so well!
We ran around the sand, played in the water, and I had the best time photographing these Laguna Beach engagement photos for Karisa and Lindsey!
