The first year I shot the Babkes’ family photos was in Central Park during summer and the Central Park boat Pond during Fall in 2021. Central Park is really the gold mine for colorful Fall pictures in New York as well as warm and inviting summer vibes. If you ever take family photos in NY, I highly recommend having the iconic Central Park as one of your locations any time of year!

Over the years of shooting this amazing family we have stuck mostly to the Upper East Side because that’s where they live. We always aim to have our sessions in areas that they actually frequent and not just random pretty locations. This one was extra unique at Grand Central: amidst the hustle and bustle of the commuters, we captured some beautiful photos. The architecture at Grand Central is iconic and created an unreal backdrop for us. You can definitely feel the essence of New York in these busy photos as well!
My Top Tips for a Successful Fall Photo Shoot in New York
I know that planning family photos in any city but especially New York can be a bit stressful and overwhelming! But, that’s what I am here for, to help you plan and find the perfect locations that fit your vision. Timing is everything, so I would make sure to schedule your photoshoot when the light is just right, and those fall leaves are showing off their most vibrant hues. Outfits are also a HUGE part of how your photographs will turn out. Some families like to match completely, while others like to match colors and vibes. My best tip about outfits? Embrace those autumn colors and let your family's style shine, and don’t overthink it! If you and your family do something often together or have certain traditions I would also add that into your photos to make them even more personal! Just like the Babkes took photos at places they visit regularly!
